IHPN engages with national system, professional and healthcare regulators and medical royal colleges – including the CQC, GMC and NHS England. Through our cross-sector work programme we influence national patient safety and quality strategy, keep members informed of latest developments and support patient safety improvement
We have a strong involvement in a range of influencing programmes, reports and input into national inquiries into patient safety events, with the aim that recommendations and guidance reflects the whole health system.
An example of this is the development of the Medical Practitioners Assurance Framework (MPAF) which describes good medical governance within the sector. Building on this we continue to develop sector-wide programmes such as our Share and Learn Community of Practice and work to support implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
We also play a key role in helping to raise the bar on data and transparency in the independent sector – leading on the sector’s engagement with GIRFT, PHIN and HQIP.
